Kelkar’s Museum, Pune

Housed in a 3 storey building teaming with diverse items collected from various states acorss India by Kelkar.  The Kelkars had a son who died very young.  It is believed that Kelkar started collecting brass, silver items like betel nut crackers, musical instruments, kitchen utensils, kitchen tools like various kinds of coconut scrappers and vegetable cutters, silks, embroidered clothes, wooden furniture, etc. to forget the loss of his young son.  An interesting and a wide range of collections for a single man.

Reminds me of the Salar Jung Museum in Hyderabad which has many more times the collection of paintings, sculptures, armory, jewelry, clothes, marble, clocks, etc.

Photos were not allowed inside hence nothing to show for!
